Canada is the land of vast mountains, national parks and of course a lot of snow in winter. Do you want to get out and about last minute and do you want snow guarantee? Trade the Alps for the Rocky Mountains this year. The Snow Guaranteed Deals website collected the best trips that will take you from € 1020 pp (incl. Direct flight with KLM to Edmonton!) To the slopes of Marmot Basin in Jasper National Park!
Ski or snowboard in Jasper National Park
Skiing or snowboarding in Jasper National Park, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, is a special experience. You exchange the crowds on the European slopes for the peace and space of Marmot Basin. This in combination with the large amounts of snow that falls here (400 cm per season) provide a unique powder snow experience.
With more than 85 different descents and 7 lifts on 4 different mountain peaks, this Canadian area is an absolute must for every winter sports enthusiast. Perhaps the biggest plus is that there are never queues at the ski lift, so you can go up and down the mountain continuously. For the real powder junkies: there are many possibilities to go off piste! Don’t you want this too?
Other outdoor activities in the Canadian Rockies
Of course you can’t get enough of all those descents of Marmot Basin. But while you’re in Western Canada, there are a number of things you absolutely must do. The great lakes, waterfalls and rivers are frozen and everything is covered with a white layer of snow – a unique landscape that is guaranteed to give you a real winter feeling.
About an hour’s drive from the ski resort in Marmot Basin, you can hop on a sled and let a large group of huskies pull you over. You can take one-hour tours, but an entire half-day with overnight stay is also possible here. A tour through the Maligne Canyon is certainly worthwhile. Where you can still see a large waterfall in the summer, you walk along frozen ice walls in the winter season.
After you have gone down the mountain several times, it is of course also nice to go the other way, namely up! Real dare devils venture into Jasper for an afternoon of ice climbing, where you will experience the result of the cold Canadian winter up close together with a seasoned ice climber.
